Lily is a young girl who loves painting. Every Saturday, she takes her paintbrushes, her canvas, and her box of colors and goes to the garden behind her house. She sits under a big tree and looks at the flowers, the sky, and the birds. Then she begins to paint.
She uses many colors—blue for the sky, green for the grass, red and yellow for the flowers. Sometimes she paints her cat, who sleeps in the sun. Other times, she paints the clouds and the wind in the trees.
Painting makes Lily feel happy and calm. She doesn’t think about school or problems. She only thinks about the picture in front of her. Her mother says that Lily tells stories with her pictures.
One day, her teacher sees her paintings and is very surprised. “These are beautiful!” she says. “You should show them to others.” So, Lily takes her best paintings to school. Her classmates look at them and smile. “I like the one with the cat,” says Tom. “And I like the flower picture,” says Anna.
Now, Lily paints even more. She wants to learn new things and try different colors. She also wants to paint places she hasn’t seen before—like the beach, the mountains, or a big city.
Lily’s dream is to become a real artist one day and have her own art show. But for now, she is happy to paint in her garden with the sun on her face and the wind in her hair.
